Thieves stole an ATM during an early morning raid on a shop in North Queensferry.
The machine was stolen from Wrights Licensed Grocers in Brock Street in North Queensferry around 5.30am on Wednesday.
Police Scotland said two men forced entry to the premises and stole the cash machine from inside.
It is believed the suspects then drove off in a light-coloured car, which then travelled towards Inverkeithing.
Police Scotland is now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Karen Muirhead said: “As the store was closed at the time, no staff or members of the public were threatened or injured during this incident, however, we are treating this matter very seriously. “
“Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around Brock Street on Wednesday morning is asked to contact police immediately.
“In addition, anyone with any information relevant to this investigation should also get in touch.”
The raid follows a spate of ATM thefts or attempted thefts in on the east coast of Scotland in recent weeks.
Thieves stole a five-figure sum from a cash machine in Kirriemuir just before Christmas while two cash machines were stolen from a Banchory supermarket a month later.
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
