Dunfermline’s season far from over: McIntyre

Dunfermline boss Jim McIntyre has insisted the Pars’ season is not over and urged his players to finish in runners-up spot.

The Fife team trail Dundee by five points but McIntyre told Courier Sport that he doesn’t have a problem motivating his side, despite the season ending in just over three weeks.

“It’s going to be difficult as Dundee are second at the moment and have a healthy lead over us but that is there to try to encourage us to finish as high as we can,” he said.

“We’ve got a difficult game up at Inverness on Saturday and we want to go there and try to win. Caley are on a fantastic run and they’re on form so it will be a hard game.”

He continued, “It’s not difficult to motivate the team they’re professional players and the fans pay good money to see them. It’s all about being a good professional and going out there, working hard and trying to get the result.

“We want to do as well as we can.”

McIntyre revealed that his playing days could well be over, barring an injury crisis at East End Park.

“I would only play next season in emergencies,” he added.

“I had too many injury problems so see myself featuring less next season.”
