An Angus man has been fined for assaulting another man he thought had robbed him.
Rhys McIntosh, from Forfar, threw glass at Ian Gallagher in the belief he had stolen from him the previous day.
Forfar Sheriff Court heard the assault took place in the town’s Peffers Place after the complainer threatened to stab McIntosh during an argument on November 17 last year.
Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy said: “It appears a robbery took place within Forfar on the 16th of November 2014.
“The accused and Mr Gallagher were within Peffers Place when an argument arose about this.
“The accused challenged Mr Gallagher over this, which he denied and took umbrage to.
“It appears the complainer then reached behind himself which sort of (looked like) he was reaching for a weapon.
“He turned and started to run away. The accused then throws a piece of glass which hit him in the back.
“Mr Gallagher then states to the accused: ‘I’ll be back in five minutes with a blade and your body will be lying on your ma’s doorstep’.”
McIntosh, 21, of Peffers Place, Forfar, admitted assaulting Ian Gallagher and throwing a piece of glass at his back.
Sheriff Gregor Murray fined McIntosh £150.
