An investigation has been launched into a fire deliberately started in a Dundee city centre close.
Over 20 firefighters dealt with the incident in Reform Street on Tuesday night, after smoke was reported coming from the building containing the Rokpa Shop Tea Room.
Officers discovered advertising signs in the close had been set on fire and immediately sealed the Meadowside end of the street to incoming traffic.
Four engines and a mobile support unit were deployed in the incident with crews from Blackness Road, Kingsway and Macalpine Road.
Firefighters used a crane to break top floor windows in the building to vent smoke and check the building was empty.
Station manager Mark Crush said, “There was a report of smoke in the close and we discovered name plates had been set on fire on the walls.
“The fire is out and we have checked that there are no other seats of fire in the building.
“We have also checked there is no one in the flats.”
