Raith Rovers fans should take nothing for granted after Gregory Tade and John Baird formed what looked like a potent attacking partnership against East Fife last Saturday.
Frenchman Tade and summer signing Baird scored three of Rovers’ four goals against their Fife neighbours in the Co-operative Insurance Cup tie.
Baird picked up the man of the match award but he was also lavish in his praise about Tade’s selfless running.
However, as Raith prepare to start their league campaign against Partick Thistle this weekend, manager John McGlynn has hinted that the duo are not certainties to start the game.
The Stark’s Park gaffer also has Graham Weir and on-loan Hearts striker Jamie Mole at his disposal and he said, “We have four top-quality first division forwards at the club now.
“So it is too early to talk about a new partnership they all have to compete for places.”
Apart from long-term injury victim Mark Campbell, McGlynn’s squad is in rude health at the moment.
However, they will be missing skipper Iain Davidson for the first two games of the season as he serves a suspension.
