The travellers who set up camp at the Technology Park on Thursday have begun rolling out of town claiming they’d “had enough of Dundee.”
The 20 caravans and 12 other vehicles arrived at the former Norwich Union/GA site after being chased off land at Riverside Business Park early last week.
As they left, one of the group, who refused to give his name, said, “We are leaving now. We’ve had enough of Dundee.”
He claimed the group was not responsible for the rubbish on the site and felt they had been unfairly maligned by the Dundee public.
He said much of the waste and debris had been there before they moved in.
He also showed our reporter the rubbish loaded on his van that he will take to the dump.
The man said, “If we were fly-tipping we would just leave it here so why is it we’re taking it with us?
“Look behind my caravan and you won’t find a scrap of paper.”
He hinted that the travellers may head on to Ireland but said that, as travelling folk, they would go anywhere on a whim.
