St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes is preparing to face a “buoyant” Aberdeen side after the Dons got off to the best start of anyone in the SPL.
A 4-0 home hammering of Hamilton Accies, albeit three of their goals came from the penalty spot via Paul Hartley’s boot, has lifted everyone at Pittodrie.
The road down to Perth from the Granite City will be busy this Saturday as fans travel to see if Mark McGhee’s men can keep up the momentum.
But Saints, who made not too bad a start themselves in drawing at Tynecastle, will be ready for them.
“They will come down here in buoyant mood on the back of what was a very impressive result,” said McInnes.
“They are always tough opposition but they will be even more difficult a proposition because of the added confidence they will have taken from that win.
“What I would say, though, is that we are well aware of the threat Aberdeen will pose and we are looking forward to facing them.
“They will bring a big crowd down, I am sure of that, and that will make it a great occasion for our first home league game of the season.”
The Perth boss has had his attacking options enhanced by scoring displays by both Steven Milne and Andy Jackson in a closed-door win over Falkirk.
Collin Samuel also came through the Bairns game unscathed.
Sam Parkin and Marcus Haber made their competitive debuts against Hearts at the weekend and are at the head of the queue to face the Dons.
However, McInnes added, “I was really pleased with how things went in that game and having extra options up front does help keep everyone on their toes.”
