The crash took place at around 5.40pm on Thursday on Riverside Avenue at its junction with Perth Road. The elderly woman’s green Suzuki was involved in a collision with a blue Honda Jazz driven by a middle-aged couple. She was taken to hospital but is not thought to be severely injured and it is understood the car door was cut to free her as a precaution. The couple, who declined to comment, were not hurt but looked shaken as they stood beside their vehicle. Tayside Police cordoned off the eastbound section of Riverside Avenue and diverted traffic up Perth Road until the carriageway was cleared. Motorists heading west were not delayed by the accident. Three police cars and two crews from Tayside Fire and Rescue attended the scene. A tow truck arrived at the scene at around 6.20pm to remove both vehicles and the road was re-opened a short time later.
