The last time Brechin and Airdrie United met it was a bad-tempered draw with six bookings and two dismissals.
One of the red cards was picked up by Brechin’s top scorer, Rory McAllister, who will be well warned not to react to whatever treatment is meted out to him.
In the opening 10 matches he has breached the 18 point disciplinary barrier, and will now sit out the visits to Alloa on October 30 and Stenhousemuir on November 6.
He has scored eight goals for Jim Weir’s side, but believes he has become a marked man for defenders.
He is available this Saturdau, and his scoring form is a key factor the club can ill afford to lose.
Charlie King is injured, while Barry Smith has kicked-off his managerial career at Dundee.
It has reduced the City squad to 16 when everyone is fit and available, and although Jim Weir is looking to sign a couple of new players it is unlikely anyone will be in place.
Weir said, “We have 16 first team players who are all capable of starting in any team. It is encouraging that we have got that quality.”
Three wins in a row have boosted confidence, but Airdrie’s young side is the only one in the division to have scored more away goals than Brechin this season.
“Our second half against East Fife last week was excellent, but it will be a different game against Airdrie whop have done well away from home,” said Weir.
“I trust my players to know what is at stake.
Well-travelled defender Eddie Forrest is in line for his Airdrie United debut after completing a three match ban carried over from his East Stirling days.
Forrest’s availability is a welcome boost to Diamonds manager Jimmy Boyle, who is missing both Rhys Devlin and Kieron Stallard.
