Fife SPL push attributed to Raith Rovers at least in part

Fife teams are locking out the top of the first division table and that can only be good for football in the region, according to John McGlynn.
The Raith Rovers boss is looking down from the summit on local rivals Dunfermline as the push for the SPL begins to develop an east coast flavour.
Only one point separates the two clubs with Rovers having snatched top spot courtesy of a late win against Ross County at the weekend and the Pars being held to a draw by Dundee at Dens Park.
But with the next Fife derby just a few weeks away, McGlynn believes that both sets of players can feed off any rivalry until their showdown at East End Park.
“Obviously there’s a big rivalry and it’s great for Fife,” said McGlynn of the current scenario.
“It’s also great in terms of the next derby game on November 13. If both teams are in the same position as they are just now and there is a fair chance of that then I would expect to be playing in front of a massive crowd at East End Park and a massive atmosphere.
“That can only go well for both clubs and the players will respond to that.
“It could be the situation throughout the entire season, but we’ll just have to wait and see.”
