Scottish Labour pledged their support for plans to bring an outpost of the V&A museum to Dundee.
At the party conference in Oban, culture spokeswoman Pauline McNeill said she would “argue strongly” for government support for the project.
“The SNP has an outdated view of our country and has no real vision for the arts,” she said.
“The arts sector is critical to create the economic growth Scotland needs to help lift us out of recession.
“Few things demonstrate this better than the V&A project on the Dundee waterfront, a centre of excellence for design. Labour councillor Richard McCready has been a champion of it and myself.
“Iain Gray visited Abertay University this month to see the stunning designs. We need to support our arts and culture sector more than ever.”
Labour’s new policy document specifically mentions the V&A project as part of the party’s commitment to the arts.
