The Dundee FC Supporters Society (DFCSS) is hoping to recruit a new team of volunteers to support the fight to save the club.
Over the past few months donations from the rank-and-file support have raised £200,000 towards ensuring the club’s survival.
DFCSS are aware this impressive level of fund-raising can only go on for so long and, with that in mind, the society board is keen to engage with fans and members of the local community to tap into skills and expertise that can save and make money for the club in future.
On Saturday at 1pm the volunteer recruiting event will be held at Dens Park’s Andy Penman Lounge from 1pm.
DFCSS director Dave Forbes explained, “Like every other club, we’ve a huge diversity of potential talent at our disposal-people with skills, energy or time, who have something to offer either the club or supporters society.
“We know these fans are out there, and with a little encouragement I’m sure we can turn goodwill into something tangible.
“Saturday is a chance for them to come along and talk about what they feel they can do.
“We’ll be inviting along Dundee-minded people who have given their services voluntarily to the club in the past, as well as those who have been in contact since we went into administration.
“We would ask anyone else who is interested in helping out to come along and have a chat.
“We’re also keen to hear from companies about any services they may be able to provide.
“We believe every single fan should be allowed to do something if they want to, and we are keen to get as many people involved as possible and hear new and exciting ideas.
“The bare economic fact is that there are a lot of expenses the club faces which mean resources are diverted away from the football side of things.
“The less we spend on off-field costs, the more secure the club’s future is, and the more we can invest in developing the side.”
He added, “We are looking for new ideas, skills and support as well as people who can help out with odd jobs around Dens, or on match days.
“We’ll examine the responses to see how they can be used to help with essential work, and fund-raising activities, and the implementation of new ideas we have not been able to put into practice so far as we go forward.
“The idea of attracting volunteers chimes perfectly with our vision for the club, where it is owned by the local community and where we, in turn, support local businesses and initiatives.”
