The Centre for Mountain Studies at Perth College UHI is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a presentation by landscape photographer Colin Prior.
His Mountains of Inspiration talk will take place at Perth Concert Hall on January 19.
Colin has established an international reputation in his career as a freelance professional photographer, receiving critical acclaim for his images, including many panoramic mountain scenes from ranges around the world.
The audience will also hear from Dr Thomas Moore, Perth College UHI principal and chief executive, and Dr John Francis, vice-chairman of the UK National Commission for UNESCO Scotland.
Since its inception, the Centre for Mountain Studies at Perth College UHI, a partner in the prospective University of the Highlands and Islands, has celebrated a number of achievements. In 2009, it gained prominence through the establishment of the UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Mountain Development, the first UNESCO Chair in Scotland.
In September, the centre co-ordinated an international science conference which attracted 450 people from 60 countries.
Professor Martin Price, director of the centre for mountain studies, said, “Over ten years, through our research projects, conferences, and online MSc, the CMS is now recognised in Scotland and Europe, and around the world, as a significant and valued actor in mountain research and knowledge exchange.
“Through partnership working, we will continue to prosper and undertake and communicate high-quality research to the benefit of mountain people and their environments all around the world.”
