Dundee striker Sean Higgins is determined to steal the show when he makes his first appearance on live TV.
Higgins has never starred for the cameras before so is looking forward to being beamed into the nation’s living rooms when the Dark Blues take on Motherwell on Sunday in the Scottish Cup fourth round.
The Steelmen are no strangers to TV given their higher profile as an SPL club, but it will be a novelty that Higgins hopes to enjoy to the full.
He said, “I have never played in a TV game before so I can’t wait for it.
“My mates will be having a few jars watching it down the pub, so I don’t want to disappoint them.”
He added, “Also, I want to do it for our fans and for the general public, who will be tuning in as well come Sunday.
“There is pressure on both teams to put on a show.
“It is a chance for all of us to show that we can compete with an SPL team.”
Higgins said, “With the cameras being live at Dens, we will never get a better opportunity to raise our profile.
“I just want to lap it up as much as possible, although we will only really enjoy it to the full if we get the right result.”Motherwell ‘fired up’Dundee boss Barry Smith has seen his team go unbeaten since going into administration in October, and the Dens men are desperate to keep that run going to secure the financial boost a cup run would give them.
Motherwell have a new manager in the shape of former Rangers midfielder Stuart McCall and will get the boost that brings.
However, Higgins still feels the Dark Blues can send their visitors spinning out of the tournament.
He said, “We are on a great run, so that will give us a lot of confidence going into the game.
“Motherwell are a good side we can’t take that away from them but we won’t go into this game with any fear.
“We are at home and hopefully we can take the game to them and see how they react.”
He added, “Stuart McCall is a bold appointment and, when you look at his playing career, he certainly had all the attributes to make him a winner.
“I am sure he will have them fired up coming here.
“But, at the same time, we have got a very determined group of boys as well.
“Our gaffer is getting the best out of every one of us.”
The SFA will hear the appeal against Dundee’s points deduction on Friday, January 14.
