Dunfermline have bolstered their attacking options by signing Liam Buchanan from Partick Thistle.
The 18-month deal is subject to the former Cowdenbeath man passing his medical, ahead of the clash with Stirling Albion.
The 25-year-old has been top scorer at Firhill every season since he joined Thistle in 2007. But his contract was up in the summer so the cash-strapped Glasgow club have moved to offload one of their top earners.
Buchanan said, “Dunfermline are an exciting side and create a lot of chances for their strikers. Hopefully, I will be able to get on the end of a few of them.”
Meanwhile, the Pars will on their guard for the new manager bounce at Stirling Albion, boss Jim McIntyre insisted.
The Pars are the opposition for Jocky Scott’s first game in charge of the Forthbank club, and McIntyre expects him to make an immediate impact.
He said, “There’s no doubt that a game can become more difficult when a new man takes over.
“We’ve seen it happen already this season with Craig Brown at Aberdeen. Sometimes you get a change and all of a sudden results start to improve.
“It can definitely make a game even tougher.
“Having said that, we’ve never had an easy game against Stirling. They’ve always made it hard for us over the years and I don’t expect it to be any different this weekend.”
Tuesday night’s 5-3 win in the Scottish Cup against Montrose drew both praise and criticism for his team from McIntyre.
He said, “I was really pleased with us going forward. There was some great play at times. But we need to work on our concentration levels.
“Having watched the game again, that’s what the goals we lost were down to.
“We have to make sure that, even when we’re in the ascendancy, we keep the back door shut.”
The red card keeper Chris Smith picked up in midweek will keep him out of the Pars’ Scottish Cup tie at Aberdeen, rather than the Striling match.
