Blairgowrie High School teacher Hugh McGregor Richardson

A teacher known to generations of Blairgowrie High School pupils, Hugh ‘Mac’ McGregor Richardson, has died aged 72.
Mr Richardson, a former principal teacher of modern languages at the school, moved to Blairgowrie in 1971 and retired in the mid-90s.
Educated at Stirling High School, he won a bursary to study modern languages at St Andrews University.
As part of his studies he spent a term in France and a year in Germany where he met future wife Nancy, who although from Scotland was also studying abroad.
Mr Richardson taught at schools in Grangemouth, Stirling and Larbert before moving to Blairgowrie.
His wife was also a language teacher at the school and the couple enjoyed month-long sojourns to France every year for 35 years and had many friends on the continent.
Survived by his wife and two children, Mr Richardson also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
The funeral service is in Blairgowrie Parish Church on Wednesday at 1.30pm and thereafter to Perth Crematorium at 3pm.
