Dundee’s most famous mischief-maker celebrated his 60th birthday this week.
But despite entertaining the masses for the past six decades, everyone’s favourite bad lad remains as youthful as ever.
Dennis the Menace first appeared as a rough sketch on the back of a cigarette packet and was introduced in the pages of the Beano issue 452 in 1951.

To celebrate his birthday, young Beano fans were invited to take birthday cards for Dennis to the DC Thomson shop at Meadowside, Dundee.
The best entry will be printed in the Beano.
The Year of the Menace was also launched, which will focus on classic giveaways including catapults and pea-shooters.For more visit the Beano’s new website at www.beano.comand find a whole range of goodies in the DC Thomson shop.
