The public will have a chance to see plans to improve the Glen Pavilion at an exhibition next week.
Fife Council and the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust are working on a self-contained cafe extension and soft play area as part of an overhaul of the pavilion, in the heart of Pittencrieff Park.
A public information day will be held in the pavilion from noon to 4pm on Monday to give the chance to view background ideas under consideration.
Plans for the cafe will be lodged with Fife Council development services and Historic Scotland and it is hoped that, if successful, work could start this autumn.
The plans are in addition to the anticipated upgrade of Pittencrieff Park, subject to a second stage funding bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Trust chairman Bill Livingstone said, “These plans represent an exciting opportunity to refresh and enhance the pavilion as a key focal point of the park, which is arguably the jewel in the crown of Andrew Carnegie’s legacy to his home-town community.
“Happily, this new initiative coincides with Andrew Carnegie’s 175th anniversary year.”
Leisure and culture services head Grant Ward said, “These proposals provide a positive complement to the plans recently submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund in support of Pittencrieff Park.”
Earlier this year The Courier revealed ambitious plans for the potential regeneration of the glen.
