Picture of exterior of PRI to go with story of closure of Ward 6 (again!). Perth Royal Infirmary.
A 98-year-old Perthshire man who is accused of the attempted murder of two police officers has been fully committed for trial.
Unusually, the second appearance by Sylvester Nowak was made at Perth Royal Infirmary, due to health issues he faces.
The court consisting of Sheriff Lindsay Foulis and depute fiscal Alan Kempton, along with the clerk of court and a defence agent all decamped to the hospital.
A week ago, Nowak, of Birch Row, Scone, appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court.
The petition alleges that on March 29, at his home address, Nowak assaulted two female officers with weapons.
It is alleged he attempted to murder one of the constables by striking her on the arm with a knife to her severe injury.
It is also alleged he attempted to murder a second female by trying to strike her on the head and body with a knife and axe.
Following yesterday’s appearance Nowak was remanded to Murray RoyalHospital.
