Brechin City v Ayr United: Weir hoping for redemption
ByNews reporter
Brechin are looking to avenge their first back-to-back defeats of the season with victory against fellow second division play-off hopefuls Ayr United at Glebe Park tonight.
Craig Molloy is suspended after being sent off in Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at home to East Fife, which came on the back of a midweek loss against Airdrie United.
Striker Charlie King is out long-term with a broken leg.
Ayr sit a point below Brechin in the table after beating fourth-placed Forfar on Saturday.
“We’ve not lost two on the bounce this season,” said Weir. “We pick ourselves up and bounce back, because obviously Ayr got a decent result.
“It’s not like us and I think at times this season we’ve played worse and won.
“We’ll lick our wounds and be ready for Tuesday night against Ayr.”
Rory McAllister and Ewan Moyes will line up for Brechin before a suspension kicks in. Both players will miss Saturday’s match against Peterhead.
“The concern is the suspensions are starting to mount up,” said Weir.Tonight’s admission price is again reduced to increase attendance. Prices are £8 and £4.
