Rangers make inquiry for Dundee United’s David Goodwillie

Dundee United boss Peter Houston has confirmed Rangers have made an inquiry about striker David Goodwillie.
But he revealed the Ibrox side feel United’s £2 million valuation of the Scotland international is too high.
New Rangers boss Ally McCoist has made the 22-year-old his top summer target and hopes to beat off interest from England to snare last season’s Young Player of the Year.
But United, who signed Goodwillie on a new deal until 2013 just two months ago, are determined to get what they believe is the market rate for their star asset.
Rangers have not yet tabled a firm bid and are mulling over their options.
Houston said, “Rangers spoke to the chairman and asked for our valuation of the player.
“The chairman told them what our valuation is and they think it’s too high.”
He added, “That’s where we are at the moment. There is no money on the table, it was an inquiry to ask what we would be looking for.
“As soon as there is money on the table there will be a decision to make but at the moment it’s not at that stage.”
