CityJet has announced that it is to cut some flights between Dundee and London as there is “no demand” from passengers for them.
The airline, which has just begun cut-price flights on the route, said it was cutting the 8.55am Monday London to Dundee flight and the return Dundee to London 11.25am flight from next week until further notice.
In addition a “seasonal cancellation” will affect the 9.40am Friday London to Dundee and 12.05pm Dundee to London flights from this Friday until September 2.
However, Helen Breen, partnerships manager UK & Ireland for Cityjet, categorically denied the airline was considering withdrawing the Dundee to London City Airport route altogether, saying, “It is absolutely not the case we have no plans to move out and we are committed to keeping the route open.”
She said the Friday service has been temporarily halted due to the usual drop in demand in August and confirmed the reason for the Monday cuts was “there was no demand for those flights.”
CityJet has introduced a new £49 fare, including taxes, for one-way trips for passengers who book at least seven days in advance, until the end of August, subject to availability. From September it will be available only when booked at least 30 days in advance.
