A talented Perth artist has raised £1800 for a children’s charity by auctioning off one of his paintings.
Scott Carruthers was invited to donate a piece to raise money for the Right to Play initiative, which helps improve the lives of disadvantaged youngsters through sport and games.
The event, Children at Play, was held at the Royal College of Art in London. Scott’s painting, Keys to the World, attracted a number of bids, with 100% of the proceeds going straight to Right to Play.
“My paintings are solely based around children and childhood, so being invited to this special event and to have my work involved in such a great cause was very important to me,” said Scott.
Included in the exhibition were paintings by renowned artists like Sacha Jafri and Sir Peter Blake alongside 750 primary school pupils, aiming to raise money for their own schools as well as the charity.
Scott added, “It was a real privilege to be invited along for the evening, to see first hand the amount of work put into organising such an exhibition, as well as view all the paintings created by such renowned artists, and the school children, to raise money for the charity.”
More than £50,000 was raised on the night alone but the exhibition and live auction continues until August 1.
