Dunfermline defender Kevin Rutkiewicz insists his previous injury nightmares are spurring him on in his latest spell on the sidelines.
The 31-year-old is still to make an SPL appearance this term after being plagued by a torn muscle in his hip since pre-season.
However, the former Aberdeen defender is no stranger to the treatment table, having feared his career could be over in 2006 when he suffered a serious ankle injury during his time with St Johnstone.
And the stopper admits his previous worries have equipped him with a clear sense of perspective regarding his future with Dunfermline.
He said: ”I’ve been in worse positions. The year Gretna won promotion to the SPL I got an ankle injury in my first game. That was a career-threatening injury.
”That was a turning point in my career. I began to appreciate things more and I can take any injury I get now on the chin.
”I’m back in aggressive running now so I’m hoping to be training sooner rather than later.”
