A man who breached bail conditions by hiding in his wife’s fridge was remanded overnight ahead of a further court appearance.
Peter Wade (43), of Lochlands Road, Arbroath, admitted breaching his bail conditions for a further time by contacting his wife on Sunday.
Arbroath Sheriff Court heard on Monday that police had spotted Wade with his wife in Hamilton Street and Clova Avenue, in contravention of restrictions put in place following a domestic incident.
Wade appeared in court earlier this month after a police search of his wife’s property in Glenogil Drive found him perched on a cushion inside a fridge. The couple had wanted to spend time together in the house and had planned to watch a film together.
Defence agent Billy Rennie said Wade’s wife wanted to have contact with her husband, adding that the couple were experiencing some family difficulties.
Sheriff Derek Pyle said it was the eighth occasion Wade had flouted a bail order and remanded him in custody pending a further appearance later today.
He said: ”You have to understand what a court order is all about and you don’t seem to think it is important. You will have 24 hours to dwell on it.”
