A scenic coastal village’s tourism credentials are set for a major boost after it was chosen to feature in a major UK-wide advertising campaign.
Images from picturesque Pittenweem in Fife will be beamed on televisions and cinemas throughout the country as part of a new VisitScotland commercial.
The village was chosen to take a ”starring role” in the feature thanks to the continued success of its arts festival. The annual extravaganza regularly attracts large audiences, and VisitScotland chiefs believe the event is a beacon of good practice.
A spokeswoman for the national tourism organisation promised that the advert will ”thrust Pittenweem into the national spotlight”.
”A film crew recently visited the village to shoot scenes for its new Surprise Yourself commercial,” she said. ”Voiced by Scottish television historian Neil Oliver, the new advert will be broadcast on television and in cinemas throughout Britain from January, inspiring people from all over the UK and Ireland to take a break in the region.
”Using well-loved Scottish icons, the adverts are aimed at reminding people about what a break in the country offers, while challenging possible stereotypes.”
