Positive fitness news at start of Raith Rovers’ home run

Raith Rovers John McGlynn says Laurie Ellis should be fit for this weekend’s game at home to Ayr despite hobbling off against Dundee on Saturday.

The centre-half lasted just 30 minutes before having to be replaced by on-loan Hearts player Dennis Prychynenko.

However, McGlynn believes Ellis will be available to face the Honest Men.

”Laurie suffered a dead leg on Saturday and we felt he wasn’t moving freely so we took him off,” said the manager. ”However, he trained today and should be OK for the Ayr game at the weekend, as will Willie Dyer who has a bit of a knee problem.

”John Baird missed training on Monday with a knock but he is now OK.”

Saturday’s Dens Park defeat saw Raith fall to eighth place in the First Division. McGlynn’s side have now lost their last three games without scoring a single goal and have only won once in their last 11 league matches.

However, three out of their next four fixtures against Ayr, Hamilton and then Livingston are at home and the Stark’s Park boss hopes that will help them escape from their recent slump.

He added: ”We are just determined to pick up any points whether it is at home or away. But we have three home games out of the next four coming up and we need to take as many points as possible from them.

”We know to our cost that even when we have been playing reasonably well recently, it hasn’t always been reflected in results so we will just have to keep working as hard as possible.”
