The life of one of Dundee’s most celebrated daughters was commemorated on what would have been her 100th birthday.
Jenny Wood Allen, who died last year, became famous in later life for her running exploits, including becoming the oldest female marathon runner in the world in 2002.
She was a founder member of Running Sisters Tayside, and the club decided to honour her by holding a run and lunch on Sunday.
Around 30 people took part in challenges, ranging from a two-mile walk to a six-mile run on a circular route taking in the Dighty and the Tay foreshore before assembling at the Woodlands Hotel.
Jenny’s sons Alistair and Kenneth were also present.
Club member Maggie Llanwarne said: ”It was lovely just exactly what Jenny would have wanted. There were a lot of old faces from when Jenny was here and some new people who might not have known her but appreciated what she did.”
