A Dundee man has been jailed for three years for a violent glass attack at a christening party.
Paul Hamilton (31), of Dee Place, had admitted assaulting Paul Anderson in the Dolphin Bar, Fintry Road, on February 13, striking him on the head with a glass and repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and body to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
The sheriff noted that Hamilton has previous convictions involving ”substantial violence” and posed a serious risk of harm to the public.
He imposed a one-year supervised release order that will come into force when Hamilton is freed from prison.
Michael Lewis Reid Hamilton (18), of Helmsdale Drive, admitted assaulting Mr Anderson by punching and kicking him on the body. He was sentenced to a community payback order for two years.
The order requires him to attend for supervision, to be of good conduct and to undertake alcohol treatment.
At sentencing, Sheriff Davidson said the court would not tolerate the use of glass tumblers as weapons, particularly in licensed premises.
He backdated the sentence on Paul Hamilton to October 27, when he was remanded in custody.
