Dundee refusing to let three-match winning run go to their heads

Dundee’s players will stay down to earth despite being over the moon with their recent form.

The Dark Blues go into Saturday’s home league game against Falkirk on the back of victories over Raith Rovers, Morton and Stirling Albion.

That run has seen them move away from the danger zone at the foot of the first division, as well as make it into the fourth round of the Scottish Cup thanks to the win at Forthbank.

So although they have momentum going into the clash with the second-top Bairns, boss Barry Smith insists the players won’t get too big for their boots.

He said: ”The boys should be playing with confidence after recent results. We are on a bit of a roll.

”However, it is confidence we are looking for and not arrogance. There is a thin line in football between the two.”

He added: ”You need to have confidence in your own ability but you also need some humility as well in order to respect the opposition. Falkirk aren’t sitting second-top of the league for nothing.

”Mind you, I don’t believe the players will think like that anyway. We have a good dressing-room and they won’t be getting carried away.”

Each of the three victories has seen midfielder Ryan Conroy find the back of the net and Smith is hoping he can keep that strike rate up.

The manager said: ”Ryan has done well for the team since the start of the season. He is getting in among the goals now, which is a bonus, so he just needs to carry on doing the right things.”

The match is likely to attract an attendance that will better many in the SPL, and Smith who should have a full-strength squad believes the spectators will be in for a treat.

He said: ”This is a game the supporters should look to come out to. It is an attractive one because, like ourselves, Falkirk look to get the ball down and play in the right manner.”
