Hundreds of families filled the main streets in Broughty Ferry for the traditional switching-on of the Christmas lights.
Thursday’s Broughty Ferry Christmas street party boasted a host of attractions to keep the chill at bay until the magic moment when the switch was thrown by Lord Provost John Letford.
The crowd was entertained by the Eastern Primary School Choir, members of Downfield Musical Society, who performed an excerpt from this year’s panto Aladdin, and headline act the Gospel Truth Choir.
Street entertainers delighted the children and no Christmas party would be complete without an appearance from a very special visitor Santa Claus, who brought his sleigh to Broughty Ferry.
Sandro Paladini, from the Broughty Ferry Traders’ Association, said: ”The traders donate the Christmas lights to the people of Broughty Ferry by way of a thank you for their custom and to give something to the community.
”The response that there’s been over the last three years has been terrific.”
The main Dundee Christmas light switch-on is this evening, starting at 6pm. Our own DC Thomson building in Meadowside will be opening late for the celebrations, with guest appearances, prize draws and special offers. For more on the Dundee Christmas light night programme visit www.dundeecity.gov.uk
