Angus Council says it is continuing to make improvements after criticism of the condition of a £229,000 Angus cycle path.
A damaged pedestrian barrier has been repaired and remedial works are also being carried out on sections of the combined footpath and cycleway between Montrose and the Northwater Viaduct.
More dog bins will also now be put in place after residents hit out at owners tying bags of dog mess to a fence at the car park on the route.
Montrose councillor David May said: ”These improvements will help make the cycle track and footpath even better for locals as well as visitors to our town.”
The cycle path begins at Broomfield Road and runs north through the former airfield and land at Kinnaber before reaching the viaduct. It then follows a minor public road to St Cyrus and beyond.
The cycle path opened in July after the £229,000 project was funded by Angus Council in collaboration with Sustrans and Angus Environmental Trust.
Mr May said several constituents contacted him and generally made very positive comments about the path. However, he said a few have also raised issues which led to him cycling along the path himself before raising some of the issues with the council.
