A masked man threatened a convenience store worker in Dundee with a knife and demanded she hand over money.
She did not give him any but he grabbed a batch of cigarettes and ran off from McColl’s in Balmoral Terrace, Douglas.
The incident happened about 6pm on Monday. The victim of the raid, who was shaken but otherwise unhurt, is recovering but declined to speak about her ordeal.
The man is described as in his late teens to early 20s, about 5ft 7in, wearing a dark jacket, blue tracksuit bottoms, grey baseball cap, black gloves and white trainers. He had a black scarf over his face.
Detective Inspector Kevin McMahon said officers are working to track down the man, who ran off in the direction of Balunie Drive.
”He was hiding his appearance and demanded money before making off with tobacco,” he said. ”We have done a lot of house-to-house inquiries and there is a lot of CCTV review work to be done, but we need the local Douglas community’s help.
”I would appeal to any witnesses who have seen a male acting suspiciously, even if it is outside the shop before the incident, to get in touch with us.
”The women were obviously frightened by the actions of the perpetrator.
”We will do everything we can to apprehend anybody that’s going around with a knife and covering their face like this. I absolutely condemn these cowardly actions.”
