Dundee manager Barry Smith says his players are determined to rain on Ross County’s parade.
The Dark Blues will be guests at the Staggies’ championship celebrations on Saturday but they want to spoil the party by bringing the home side’s 30-game unbeaten run in the league to an abrupt end.
The Dens men remain fully focused on finishing second top of the First Division behind County and the last thing Smith wants is for his men to become bit-part players at Victoria Park.
”We are not going up there to stand back and watch them enjoy the fact they have just won the league,” said the Dundee boss.
”We don’t want to just look at County enjoying the applause and lapping up the occasion. So I fully expect the boys to go up there and really go for the three points.
”They know what I expect of them and we have discussed it. It is a great chance for us to go and beat the league winners, so we shouldn’t need any more motivation than that. If that doesn’t get them going from the first whistle, then they have a severe problem.
”We have had some very tight games with County this season and we just have to focus on ourselves to try to get that second place.
”I know the character of our lads. They were disappointed by drawing with Queen of the South on Tuesday. Now we have four games left that we want to win, starting with the one in Dingwall.”
