An Angus film director will show his Donald Trump documentary to MSPs next week the day before the billionaire gives evidence at the Scottish Parliament over wind farms.
The tycoon has been a vocal opponent of plans for an offshore wind farm near his golf course in Aberdeenshire and is due to give evidence on renewable energy to MSPs at Holyrood on April 25.
Mr Trump says the wind farm will ruin views from his new £750 million golf resort, at which he says work has been halted because of the turbines.
Politicians have been invited to the screening of Anthony Baxter’s documentary, You’ve Been Trumped, at the parliament.
The 90-minute film, directed by Mr Baxter, looks at the social, economic and environmental effects of the development at the Menie Estate, north of Aberdeen, as well as the way the Trump organisation has conducted itself to bring the controversial project to fruition.
The Trump organisation has also been invited to the screening, which will take place at 6pm in Committee Room One, on Tuesday, April 24.
Mr Baxter said: ”Our screening will be an opportunity for MSPs to better understand the facts surrounding the development ahead of Mr Trump’s appearance before the economy, energy and tourism committee.
”The film raises extremely grave questions about Mr Trump’s credibility as a witness and it is vital MSPs see it before weighing his evidence.
”We wanted to make sure there was absolutely no excuse for parliament to be seduced a second time by Mr Trump and his PR machine when it comes to upending the country’s environmental policies.”
There will be live music from award-winning singer-songwriter Karine Polwart and the event is scheduled to be presented by Janice Forsyth host of BBC Radio Scotland’s Movie Cafe programme.
Karine’s song Cover Your Eyes was inspired by the film and will be on the closing credits of the final version of You’ve Been Trumped which will be distributed this summer.
The feature was completed by Mr Baxter’s production company Montrose Pictures and has scooped 10 awards.
