A brazen car thief jumped into a van parked beside an Angus filling station before making off at high speed.
The vehicle, belonging to Ramsay Fabrications, was taken from Arbroath at around 1.15pm on Wednesday while parked near the Shell garage in Cairnie Street.
Garage owner Colin McIntosh said: ”The town has been crawling with police and I would think there is more to this than just a car theft.
”I don’t know if they guy was using it as a getaway or for something else, but I have never seen so many police officers around.”
A police spokeswoman said: ”A man was seen acting suspiciously on the forecourt around the time the van was stolen and he is described as wearing a white T-shirt with red logo, dark jeans and white trainers.”
