Monifieth residents have spoken of their disappointment after vandals snapped young saplings in the town’s Ashludie Park.
Rod Bowman discovered the damage on Sunday when he was taking his family for a walk.
He said: ”I visited Ashludie Park with my grandchildren to find a trail of destruction overnight to young trees that have been in the park for the past few years.
”I hope those responsible wake up feeling absolutely ashamed of themselves, but then I doubt it!”
Mr Bowman said the trees are not so small that the damage was likely to have been caused by children.
He said: ”You feel it’s not just children but adults who have done it on the way home from a drink. It’s disgraceful.”
Another resident reported the damage to the police.
A spokeswoman for Tayside Police said: ”We received a report about vandalism in Ashludie Park on Sunday. Four saplings have been snapped.”
Anyone with information regarding the vandalism should contact police on 0300 111 2222.
