Thousands of spectators turn out to enjoy Perth Show in fine weather

Crowds flocked to sun-drenched Perth Show – more than making up for the cancellation of the event’s opening day.
Underfoot conditions on the South Inch meant the showground could not be opened to the public on Friday and the first day of competition and judging was cancelled.
The setting could not have been more perfect the following day as thousands of visitors joined the fun.
Show secretary Neil Forbes said: ”We had an excellent day and the weather was tremendous so the place was heaving with people. The decision about Friday was taken early and even on Saturday the ground was still a bit spongy and too dangerous for the horses so there are absolutely no regrets there.
”Despite Friday it was a very, very successful event from morning until night with a super atmosphere and all the exhibitors did a great job showing the stock.
”Now we have a short rest and start all over again for next year.”
Perth Highland games has already confirmed plans to move to the North Inch from this year but Mr Forbes said the show has absolutely no intention of following suit.
