Target man Andy Barrowman has sights set on starting spot for Dunfermline

Dunfermline assistant boss Gerry McCabe has revealed that Andy Barrowman is set to stay at East End Park and fight for his place in the side.

At the end of last season, following the Pars relegation from the SPL, manager Jim Jefferies wielded the axe on the experienced campaigners who were out of contract, including skipper Austin McCann, Martin Hardie and Davie Graham.

Although Barrowman still had a year left on his deal, he was also informed by Jefferies that he was free to find another club.

However, McCabe says that the former Ross County and Inverness striker is set to remain with Dunfermline and the assistant boss is looking forward to him rattling in the goals once again in the First Division.

He said: ”The manager was up front and honest with Andy at the end of last season so it was up to him to respond and he has.

”He is still a Dunfermline player and he has worked really hard in pre-season and is determined to do well here.

”The gaffer wasn’t shoving him out the door but we have definitely got a reaction from him.

”He is a proven scorer in the First Division and hopefully he can show that again this season.”
