A motorcyclist died on a day of tragedy and chaos on Perthshire’s roads on Wednesday.
The 41-year-old man, named locally as father-of-three David Roberts, from Stanley, died following a collision with a Jaguar car on the A85 near Comrie.
Mr Roberts’ family were too upset to speak about the tragedy.
The crash occurred on a day when the sun shone across much of Perthshire, bringing many motorcyclists on to the roads.
Mr Roberts was about one mile west of Comrie when the crash happened at around 11.30am.
The accident was on a slight curve between two straights and, despite the best efforts of staff from the Scottish Ambulance Service, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The people in the Jaguar were believed to be elderly and were not thought to have been injured.
The accident caused huge disruption throughout Strathearn. The road was closed between Comrie and Crieff and motorists faced significant detours.
What would usually be an 11-minute journey from Comrie to Crieff took more than two hours as traffic was sent on a 77-mile detour.
Motorists travelled through Callander and Doune and on to the A9 before re-joining the A85 at Crieff via the A822 from Greenloaning.
The A85 has gained a reputation as one of Scotland’s most dangerous roads and its safety is under investigation by transport officials.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact police on 0300 111 2222.
In an unconnected incident, roads in and around Perth were affected after a lorry crashed into a bridge across the A9.
The low-loader belonging to MacRitchie Highland Distribution was travelling towards the Broxden roundabout at around 6.45am when it is understood its cargo moved.
It had been carrying a large, yellow excavator, whose hydraulic drilling arm came into contact with the side wall of the bridge, digging a groove into the concrete and sending debris crashing on to the bypass.
The A9 between the Inveralmond and Broxden roundabouts was closed as police and engineers from Bear Scotland worked at the scene.
Above the carriageway, the A85 Crieff to Perth road was also closed as the team evaluated the damage. Traffic was diverted, adding to already busy early morning traffic and clogging some roads in the city.
It was almost two hours before the road could be reopened, although it remained reduced to one lane throughout the day.
