”Words can not possibly describe how much you will be missed and how much of a void you have left behind” that was the emotional tribute paid by a grieving Angus uncle after the tragic death of his young nephew.
The body of former youth boxing champion Dean Heenan, from Arbroath, was found on a path on Herald Avenue.
The 20-year-old bricklayer was described as an ”absolute character” by his uncle, Steven Heenan, and as a ”great wee lad” by coaches who worked with him as a child.
The police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
Friends and family have posted a series of tributes to the former Angus College student on Facebook.
His uncle Steven wrote: ”Words can not possibly describe how much you will be missed and how much of a void you have left behind.
”You were an absolute character, a one-of-a-kind. And if you haven’t ko’d the big man up there yet words of advice don’t! He is there to look after you. See you again mate (keep the faith) xx.”
Laurie Falconer added: ”RIP Dean. Hope u make them all laugh up there as much as u made us all laugh. Gonna be missed so much by all u were such a fun loving wee chap. RIP wee chap xxxxxx.”
Dean’s mother Aileen Mildener thanked those who had posted messages of sympathy. She wrote: ”It means a lot to know he was loved by so many people xx.”
David Strachan, secretary of Arbroath Amateur Boxing Club, said: ”We heard about Dean’s death yesterday and it has come as a shock to us all. He boxed for us when he was a youth, although we hadn’t seen him for a year or so.
”He came along when he was about nine or 10 and at the time you couldn’t fight until you were 12. It was difficult to get him fights because he was too light, and I remember bringing cakes along to training to fatten him up as a joke.
”He was keen and he had potential. He was a youth district champion and he could have won more championships as he progressed. Then he got a job up in Aberdeen and wasn’t able to make it along.
”However, he had said to one of the coaches recently that he was thinking about making a comeback.”
Dean’s family were too upset to comment.
A police spokeswoman said: ”I can confirm officers attended an area around Herald Avenue at around 7.30am on Sunday following the sudden death of a young man.
”There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
The death comes a matter of months after that of fellow boxing club member Barrie Lee, who died in Ghana earlier this summer.
