Forfar teenager Laing Croll has donated £425 to the minor injuries and illness unit at the town’s Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre after a two-part challenge through some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery.
Laing (17), a sixth-year pupil at Forfar Academy, completed 50 miles of the West Highland Way which runs from Milngavie to Fort William having been forced to abandon plans to tackle the full 95-mile route due to other commitments.
However, he was determined to make his sponsorship effort a tough test and with the support of his parents, Peter and Pam, he also climbed Ben Nevis the UK’s highest peak.
Having attended Forfar Minor Illness and Injury Unit (MIIU) in the past, Peter decided to raise money to thank staff for the service they provide and enlisted friends and family, as well as pupils and teachers from Forfar Academy and Inverarity School, to support the effort.
Laing’s dad, a senior charge nurse at the unit, accepted the cheque on behalf of the MIIU.
