Jamie Adams has had a run of bad luck since he returned to St Johnstone from his loan deal at Dundee.
Adams was on the bench at Tynecastle for the 1-0 weekend defeat and he stressed, “It was just a bad 45 minutes against Hearts. We have been on a good run.
“There are a lot of games left but this is an important one for us. If we win to take us 15 points away from Hamilton, we can probably start aiming higher in the league.
“We will approach it in the right way and we have usually done well and taken points against sides at that end of the table.
“Games like this are really important for us so we’ll be looking for another three points.”
Manager Derek McInnes has no fresh injury concerns, but Danny Grainger is still suspended.
He said, “If we put in a similar performance to our last home match against Motherwell, we’ve got a good chance of winning the match.
“We’ve never had anything other than a tight, hard-fought game against Hamilton in my time here, be it in the first division or the SPL. I expect nothing different tomorrow night.
“They’ve got the incentive of getting off the bottom of the table and we know we’ll need to play well and have our supporters behind us.”
Mark McLaughlin is out of Hamilton’s plans after suffering whiplash when his momentum carried him over an advertising hoarding as he made a clearance during Saturday’s draw against Kilmarnock.
Simon Mensing returns from suspension and Hamilton could have new signing Tom Elliott in their squad, but Alex Neil (hip) and James Gibson (knee) remain on the sidelines.
But he has declared himself fit for tonight’s McDiarmid Park clash with Hamilton Accies and is hoping to start showing the sort of form that helped him become a Dens Park fans’ favourite.
The summer recruit from Kilmarnock looked set for an extended spell in the Saints starting line-up after impressing in the first division under Gordon Chisholm then Barry Smith, however his hopes of making a similar impression in the SPL have been put on hold by an ankle injury.
He said, “I took a knock on the ankle in a bounce game against Hibs when someone caught me late.
“I’ve had a bit of bother with it but I have had a sugar injection from a specialist in Leicester and I’m fine now.
“I was also out with a bout of sickness so I haven’t had much luck since coming back from Dundee.
“But it’s all minor league in comparison with the cruciate injury I picked up on loan from Killie at Queen of the South. That was a real bad one.”
Adams was farmed out to Dundee to get game time earlier in the campaign but the crisis-hit Dark Blues reluctantly had to part company with the midfielder in November.
He had built up his confidence and his match fitness over those few months, and is hoping both will be restored in the coming weeks.
He said, “I loved my time out on loan at Dundee. I didn’t have a single injury and I was training every day and playing every game. That was great.
“But after playing against Hearts and Aberdeen, unfortunately I was suspended for two games. I had just got into the St Johnstone side so that was frustrating.
“Then I had the illness and the ankle knock. Like any other player, it’s disappointing when you aren’t in the side. All I want to do is play football.
“Obviously the team has been playing well and picking up points so I’ve found it hard to get myself into the mix.”
