Council houses across Levenmouth are to receive £4 million of improvements over the next few years.
More than 900 homes will receive a facelift under the investment programme to provide better quality housing.
New roofs, roughcasting, kitchens, bathrooms and heating are in the modernisation plan, which will cost a total of £3.98 million.
The 2011-12 programme is the third to be brought forward under Fife Council’s efficiency review of 2008, which was fully endorsed by the housing and communities committee in January, 2009. Older stock in most need of investment is targeted, regardless of location.
The greatest investment is for kitchens, costing £1.77 million, followed by windows and doors at £859,069.
In a report to the area committee meeting, Keith Brown, maintenance and improvement team leader, said, “This investment will deliver better quality housing and provide a warm, healthy and safe home environment for residents.”
Surveys of all houses will be completed by June with the work carried out between 2012 and 2014.
