The View are celebrating after tickets for their Scottish shows sold like hot cakes when they went on sale at the weekend.
The band was forced to announce a second show at the 1900-capacity Glasgow Barrowlands when the first concert, on April 6, sold out within half an hour on Friday morning. The added show is also nearly sold out, the band’s management say.
Manager Grant Dickson told The Courier, “The View were chuffed to find out that their Glasgow show at Barrowlands sold out so fast that it made sense to add another night. The promoters were really happy to go ahead and the second is now almost sold out as well.
“I think the live DVD from Barrowlands, that was included in the limited edition version of the band’s second album, may have helped the rush. It seems that Scotland as a whole has taken the band to heart. It’s really rewarding to see the desire we’ve built in our homeland.
“We always come away from Scottish shows on top of the world. It sets us up so well for the rest of the tour.”
The second gig will take place the following night, on Thursday, April 7, the band’s management confirmed. Meanwhile, a Dundee City Council spokesman confirmed that, “Tickets are selling well from the box office,” for their Caird Hall show on Monday, April 4.
The announcement underlines the band’s enduring popularity and growing excitement ahead of their third album release, Bread And Circuses, which is due out on March 14, with the single Grace hitting the shops a week before.
