Courier readers are being asked to find the missing piece of a royal jigsaw.
With the current success of The King’s Speech at cinemas worldwide, Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre noted that this year marks 83 years since the then Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and the Queen Mother, visited Dunfermline.
They were given the Freedom of the City on the stage of the Alhambra during their visit on August 11, 1928. The ceremony, held in the magnificent and recently restored Alhambra, was unique as it was the first occasion in recorded history of Dunfermline that the freedom of the city was granted to a husband and wife on the same occasion.
