Production has restarted at a Fife vegetable processing factory ravaged by fire last month.
Part of Kettle Produce’s plant at Orkie Farm, near Freuchie, was destroyed when the fire ripped through it just over three weeks ago.
At its height, some 50 firefighters tackled the massive blaze, which broke out early in the morning, and it was the next evening before it was completely extinguished.
The huge plume of smoke from the factory could be seen for miles around.
As a result of the incident 70 seasonal workers had their employment terminated earlier than planned and the remaining employees were moved to the company’s larger site nearby at Balmalcolm.
A Kettle Produce spokesman said, “We have recommenced production at the Orkie Farm plant.
“At this stage it remains on a small scale but our plan is to slowly scale this up over the summer.
“Work is continuing to remove the building damaged by the fire so that we can begin focusing on a replacement.”
