Forfar manager Dick Campbell admitted his team were lucky to escape with a point against Alloa at Station Park and should have been three goals down at half-time.
Alloa spurned a number of gilt-edged opportunities and the Loons boss said his team never got out of second gear and did not deserve three points.
It was their second successive meeting after Forfar won 3-0 at Recreation Park on Saturday.
Ross Campbell’s 69th-minute penalty gave the home side the lead but Alloa hit back late on to take a share of the spoils and pick up their first point after five straight defeats.
Campbell said, “Nobody would deny them at least a point because we were very poor.
“At no point did I feel we deserved to win the game and (Alloa manager) Allan Maitland will be very unhappy that they only came away with a point.”
He added, “I’m delighted with a point because we never threatened their goal and they should have been 3-0 up at half-time.
“The players never got out of second gear and the only good thing was we managed to maintain our unbeaten run.”
The visitors created the best first-half chances.
Michael McGowan played in a dangerous ball from the right on 23 minutes and Kevin McDonald fired just over on the volley from inside the 18-yard box.Alloa penalisedA couple of minutes later Bryan Prunty was played through one on one with Gallacher but his left-foot strike was saved by the feet of the on-loan Rangers stopper.
Scott Walker headed the resulting corner over the bar from close range.
Alloa had another chance to take the lead on 29 minutes when Stuart Noble headed over the bar when McGowan’s cross from the right found him unmarked at the near post.
The Forfar defence got in a tangle on 32 minutes and Noble found himself one on one with Gallacher but poked wide with his left foot when it looked easier to score.
Forfar almost took the lead on 48 minutes when Chris Templeman broke on the left and played in Ross Campbell, whose curling right-foot effort was tipped over by Jamie Ewings.
On 67 minutes Dale Hilson almost scored the goal of the season with a scissor kick from the edge of the box, which struck Ewings’ right-hand post.
Two minutes later Forfar took the lead from the penalty spot.
Referee John Beaton had no hesitation after the ball struck Walker’s arm in the box and Ross Campbell made no mistake from 12 yards, firing high into the top right-hand corner.
Alloa got a deserved equaliser on 80 minutes from James Lister.
The substitute latched on to a through ball which cut the Forfar defence open and struck a right-foot shot past Gallacher, low into the bottom left-hand corner.
