There can hardly be a better place to study for aspiring young artists than the Italian city of Florence.
Three students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design will spend up to three months there through scholarships from the Royal Scottish Academy.
Claudia de la Pena, Hannah Imlach and Usman Malik will visit one of the best-preserved cities of the Renaissance and take in works by artists such as da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli and Caravaggio.
They will produce their own works during the trip, some of which will be donated to the academy on their return.
Professor Gareth Fisher, college fine art programme leader, said, “Claudia, Hannah and Usman have all done exceptionally well. They faced competition from more than 70 of the best young art students in Scotland and the fact they were successful demonstrates their considerable talent.
“I’m sure they will produce some exciting work which will do justice to their talent, as well as reflecting well on the college and the training they have received here.”
