Scientists explain their craft during Dundee Science in the City weekend

Some of Dundee’s brightest lights in science have donated their energy and enthusiasm to Dundee Science Centre.
Scientists from the universities of Abertay have been explaining the wonders of science with their latest and coolest discoveries during the Dundee Science in the City weekend.
Visitors found out more about their research into breeding potatoes and how to make the perfect chip, magnets and why they are important for understanding the sun, as well as many other research areas.
Hannah Crookes, director of science learning and public engagement at Dundee Science Centre, said, “This is a great opportunity for some of our local scientists to showcase the exciting and hugely relevant work being undertaken right on our doorstep.
“We are lucky to have two fantastic universities in our city who are both involved in science projects that will play a key role in society, for present and future generations, and which they are keen to explain to their own local communities.”
A number of local schools, including Gowriehill Primary in Dundee and Largoward Primary in Fife attended the event on Friday. which was repeated for members of the public on Saturday.
